CrossFit Birthday: 07/15/2013

How did you hear about CrossFit? Shelly Braunschweig…Over drinks in the driveway one evening Shelly asked me if I would check out CrossFit 515 with her. I had no idea what CrossFit was but said yes with no hesitation. We filled out the online waivers & started the next week. We were hooked after our first workout. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made!

How has CrossFit changed your life? When I really think about it I’m not sure there’s an aspect of my life that hasn’t been positively impacted by CrossFit. I’m stronger mentally and physically than I ever thought possible. I have a much different outlook on food and nutrition for myself and my family. My kids love to do CrossFit family workouts and come to 515. But I think the biggest (and best) change & benefit from CrossFit are the amazing people I’ve met. Amazing friends & clients, my business partner…I can’t imagine my life without the 515 family! The support & community we have at 515 are amazing.

Favorite & least favorite movement:  Favorites are deadlifts, double unders, cleans & snatches. Least favorite are pull-ups, box jumps & burpees.

Family info: I live in Grimes with my husband Joe who is also a member at 515, our 14 year daughter Essence, our 9 year old son Tayvian, and our miniature schnauzer, Talulah. The kids keep us busy chasing them around to their activities…horse shows for Essence & sports for Tayvian. We love to travel & cheer on the Hawkeyes!

Favorite saying: Don’t Wish for It, Work for It.

Favorite songs to workout to: Skillet, 5 Finger Death Punch & Eminem.

Favorite TV show or movie: Pretty Woman is my favorite movie & I also love the Sex & The City shows & movies.

What movement or skill were you most excited about when you were able to do it? Definitely bar muscle-ups!

Something interesting about me: I’m the oldest (and smallest) of 3 siblings…my sister, Danielle, is 8 years younger & my brother, Connor, is 17 years younger. They’re both well over 6′ tall so they make me look small at 5’8″.
