How did you hear about CrossFit? I used to live fairly close to the gym when it was located by Miss Kitty’s and I ran the bike trail quite a bit. I checked out the gym every time I ran by, just never had the courage to drop in. Until one day I decided I needed a change and forced my little brother to go with me and never looked back!

How has CrossFit changed your life? It has definitely gotten me in better shape than I was before. I ran and lifted quite a bit at Aspen before starting CrossFit. My first workout at CrossFit was Fran and found out that day I wasn’t in as good of shape as I thought I was. It definitely put me in my place. Secretly though the only reason I come is to beat Tony!

Favorite & least favorite movement Favorite movements are running, wallballs, rope climbs, and the peg board. Least favorite movement is toes to bar.

Family info Married to my beautiful wife Kathleen and we have a super fun son Rowan. Dog: Sasha

Something Interesting About me I own and operate Sender’s Construction. For all your construction needs call 515-329-8004

Favorite saying “Sometimes in life you need to think about life sometimes” -Ben Vogel

Favorite songs to work out to Don’t really have one, can’t stand hard rock… I tune out during a workout and don’t hear the music playing at all. I really enjoy that Nick Ackerman is trying to bring more country into our morning class!  My walk out song would be Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi

What movement or skill were you most excited about when you were able to do it? Oh there are so many… First I would say butterfly pull ups and chest to bar pull ups…. Then double unders (even after almost 6 years I still struggle some days) Bar muscles ups. After this year’s open I am going to work on my Olympic lifting technique and squatting!

I would like to give a huge shout out to the Crossfit 515 community. I have met a lot of amazing and inspirational people and I couldn’t imagine my life without you all! Cheers to almost 6 years and so many more!!!
