Crossfit Birthday-October 2015
How did you hear about Crossfit?-I had seen things about Crossfit, but it was Shelley Braunschweig and Chrissi Ripperger who probable got me thinking about it. I mean have your seen Chrissi’s abs? I had actually been saying for about 6 months before I started that it wasn’t for me and that I was never going to do it. I had done the Ferrells 2015 summer session and was bored with it and looking for something else. Well it apparently stuck because almost 2 years later I’m still here.
How has Crossfit changed your life?– When I stopped working nights at the hospital I finally lost my last excuse for really making an effort to eat better and to get in shape. I had always went through periods of working out a lot and then would come up with an excuse to stop. This is the longest I’ve ever stuck with anything. I have also lost 20 pounds since I started. I’m not sure that I would have found my tumor as soon as I had if I had not lost weight. I started my chemotherapy in the best shape I have ever been in my life. I have been lucky that I have not had a lot of side effects from chemotherapy. My doctor attributes how well I’m doing to the fact that I was in shape when I was diagnosed. Another plus is that my husband is now obsessed with Crossfit and not golf so the girls and I see him a lot more on the weekends.
Favorite Movement-any work out with running
Least favorite-snatch-I just don’t have very good technique
Family Info-Husband Ben who also does Crossfit, daughters Piper and Madison
Something interesting about me-I have 2 sisters and 1 brother, I’m the only one that doesn’t live within 10 miles of my parents, in fact I live 4 hours away
Favorite saying-“one person can make a difference, therefore everyone should try”
Favorite songs to workout to-I normally don’t notice what is playing because I’m too busy thinking I’m going to pass out, but I do always notice when “Lose Yourself” by Eminem comes on
Movement you were most excited about when you were able to get it: I was probable most excited to get rope climbs and strict pull ups. I was also excited to get under a 7 minute mile.
