How did you hear about CrossFit? My husband, Adam, had been doing CrossFit for several years and joined 515 shortly after you opened. He tried to talk me into coming for a long time, but the idea terrified me. I did Kosama for 2 years before starting and finally decided I was ready to try it! I was hooked after my first day doing a team workout with some extremely encouraging people!

How has CrossFit changed your life? I know everybody says this, but how hasn’t it changed my life! I am healthier physically and emotionally then I ever have been in my life! I get challenged everyday to push myself to do things I never thought were possible. I get built up by the amazing community at CrossFit 515 who encourage me to be better then yesterday!

Favorite & least favorite movement: My favorite would have to be snatches or clean & jerks. Anything that lets me put that much weight over my head is such an amazing and empowering feeling. Least favorite is anything I can’t do yet! Probably handstand push ups (still working on the hand stand part).

Family info: I have been married to my amazing husband, Adam, for almost 13 years. We have two wonderful children, Xander is 8 and Ella is turning 6 this month. It’s pretty awesome to feel great running around and playing with my kids.

Something interesting about me: I am a mental health therapist, primarily doing play therapy with kids. So, my job allows me to play with kids all day!

Favorite saying: “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.” -Maya Angelou (so many empowering quotes by her!)
This one is also a favorite! “When life gets you down do you know what you’ve gotta do? Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming” – Dory from Finding Nemo

Favorite songs to workout to: I haven’t heard much in awhile (hint) but 80s music always seems to get me excited. Honestly once the work out starts, I really don’t hear it image1anyway!

Favorite TV show or movie: Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the TV series). My favorite movie of all time is probably The Sound of Music.

What movement or skill were you most excited about when you were able to do it? With out a doubt pull-ups, and if I keep listening to the awesome people at the gym (Shelly!), chest-to-bar pull up will hopefully be soon!
