How did you hear about CrossFit?
I had a friend tell me Crossfit is nuts and so was I, so I should give it a try. 515 just happened to be close to my house. My first workout was Karen, so I’m surprised I came back…
How has CrossFit changed your life?
Crossfit is a great stress reliever. I have lots of rough days at work and working out takes my mind off of things. I like the challenge of Crossfit and loved learning how to do things I’d never done. I know how much of a challenge most movements are and really like being able to push other people in the gym, even though I pushed Angie McMullen and now she lifts more than me. Oh, and I found my future husband at 515 🙂 That was probably the biggest life changer for me!
Favorite & least favorite movement
My favorite movements are ring muscle ups and squat snatches because they took me so much time to get where I am. My least favorite are thrusters and back squats because I suck at them 🙂
My mom, step dad and dad all live in Keota, IA where I grew up. I have 2 older brothers and 1 younger brother that I love to death. They have given me 2 adorable nieces and 3 nephews. I am engaged to Cory (the guy with the shaved head, black beard and huge thighs in case you didn’t know) and we have a spoiled cat named Zeus.
Something interesting about me.
I got hired for my dream jobs 4 years ago as a flight nurse for Mercy One. Prior to that, I worked as an ER and ICU nurse. Between ages 22-24, I worked 13 week travel nursing contracts at hospitals in Texas, Arizona, Connecticut and Florida. I moved back to Iowa because I missed my family and the people in the Midwest.
“I don’t need your attitude, I have my own”. I learned that this is something I can say at work to make my point, but not get in trouble. And I say it to Cory all the time 🙂
Favorite songs to workout to
Pompeii by Bastille
Rebel Yell by Billy Idol and Now or Never by Outasight, which Bobby never plays 😉
Favorite TV show or movie
I rarely watch TV, but when I do it’s usually Chopped or whatever movie Cory tells me we are watching
What movement or skill were you most excited about when you were able to do it?
Ring muscle ups were the most exciting. I did beat myself up pretty good to learn them, but wasn’t going to stop till I figured it out. Butterfly pull ups were quite the challenge also, but I’m glad I took the time to learn how to do them!
