Athlete of the Month: Wes Nyberg

Crossfit Birthday: I count my real Crossfit birthday when I started 515 so it was Sept, 2012.

How has CF changed your life?
CF has given me the style of exercise I love. It satisfies my competitive nature. I look forward to working out. I’m always trying to improve. One of my favorite things is that CF has given me the chance to workout with my wife. It’s another thing we can do together. It has also taken me physically beyond areas I never even thought of. But, probably more important, is that it has helped me mentally. It has helped my goal setting, planning and taking the necessary action steps to blow past those goals. CF helps way beyond the walls of the 515.

Favorite or least favorite movement(s)?
-Least favorite movement is the Muscle Up because it’s my biggest challenge, not because I don’t like it.
-My least favorite is HSPU because being a Chiropractor, I cringe seeing people crush their neck when they do it wrong.
-My favorite movement is probably the Clean/Jerk.

Job info:
I’m the owner and sole doctor of Waukee Wellness & Chiropractic. It is my passion and calling to do what I do. I’m so excited to go to Waukee Wellness everyday. To see people improve their health naturally and improve everyday is just amazing.

Something funny or interesting about me?
Where do I start?? My favorite musician of all time is Weird Al Yankovic. My two boys, Ben & Will and I all LOVE comics and superheros. I have a pair of American flag pants that I still wear, I love Mochas, and I basically have had the same haircut since high school. The best thing though, is that my wife, Katie, puts up with all of it. 🙂20140301_083832

Favorite stuff to workout to is hard rock like Slipknot or Stone Sour and most Eminem songs.

Favorite movie(s)?
That’s a tough one because I LOVE movies. Right now, top 3 are: The Avengers, The Matrix, and Lone Survivor

What movement or skill were you most excited about when you were able to do it?
By far for me was my first Muscle Up.
2nd which I just accomplished was getting 225# overhead.
