Here is info for Regionals in Chicago. Anyone thinking about making the trip to watch, you should do it…it’s a fun experience :)

North Central Regionals Competition:
Friday May 18-Sunday May 20
McCook Athletic & Exposition
4750 South Vernon Avenue McCook, IL 60525
Buy Tickets:

TownePlace Suites Chicago Lombard
455 E 22nd St Lombard, IL 60148 (about 12 miles from venue)
Reservations: 800-257-3000
This is where we will be staying…obviously anyone is welcome to stay where they choose. This place has 1 or 2 bedroom suites with kitchens. The normal rate for 2 bedrooms is 184/night and AAA rate 142/night. Also, there is no penalty to cancel a reservation up until the day before. It’s pretty reasonably priced for a Chicago hotel, especially if people are interested in sharing suites. My mom and I can also book 3 other rooms (I think) on our AAA memberships, so talk to me if anyone is interested and we could book the room for you to get the discount…obviously first come, first serve.

Also, congratulations CrossFit 515!! We had a fabulous showing during the Open, in both results AND sportsmanship. Bobby and I are so proud of everyone that participated in the workouts over the past 5 weeks. Finally, here’s who qualified to the next level:
*Bobby – 12th place in North Central Region
*Bart – 25th place in North Central Region
*Jaime – 7th place in North Central Region
*Team 515 – 6th place in North Central Region (it’s looking like it will most likely be made up of Bart, Billy, Lance, Tara, Mindy & Michelle, with Ben & Meghan as alternates…congrats you guys!)
*Shelley – 3rd place in the WORLD for 55-59 yr old (and already qualified to defend her title at the Games in July!)

    Hey Jaime,

We’ll take a 2 bedroom from May 17th through May 21st. So check-in on Thursday and leave on Monday (assuming we can keep the room Sunday night). Thanks for setting this up and getting us the discount!

I have been competing practically since I was born (youngest of 4 kids) and have been involved in athletics all my life. I have been in countless games and tournaments, with more practice hours then I would like to count. But I have never been involved in a competition quite like this one. It was a truly unique experience and it pushed me to places I have never been before mentally and physically. I would have to say that the best part of the whole thing is the people doing it with me. CrossFit 515 has some of the best athletes I have ever been around. The sheer desire to compete, do their best, and support others around them is unbelievable. I am so blessed to have found CrossFit and to be apart of Team 515. Great job everyone in the open and I cannot wait to cheer louder then ever for all the athletes competing at Regionals!!!!!

Good Luck to team 515!! I won’t be able to watch regionals but I am working on getting a trip to the games set up!! I look forward to actually competing next year!

    Hi Jaime,
    If there is still a discounted spot available, we’ll take a 2 bedroom May 17th – 20th.

Are most folks staying until Monday or leaving Sunday?

Thanks for finding this and putting together Jaime!
    Also – great job everyone!

  5. Leann says:

I’m planning on going. Not firm enough to commit to hotel yet. How are people getting to Chicago? Has anyone taken Amtrak to Chicago? $54 dollars. The option of not driving intrigues me.

    • Leann says:

I’ve done MegaBus, never Amtrack. Similar price, sometimes cheaper depending on what times you are traveling. Leaves from downtown @ Walnut, drops you off @ Union Station in downtown Chicago.

    • Bart says:

We took Amtrak last year to Regionals. We left from Ottumwa. Going out the train was right on time but coming home it was running about an hour and a half late but I’ve heard horror stories of it running extremely late coming out of Chicago. I’m not sure how we’re getting out there this year. I’m guessing we’ll drive since the hotel will have parking.

      • Tara says:

I took it a couple years ago and confirm what Bart has said. It was close enough to being on-time on the way there. Coming home it was about 7 hours delayed.
Also, if I understand corectly, we’re not exacly downtown Chicago. Not sure where McCook Illinois is compared to the station you would get off at.

  7. Billy says:

Sweet! I’m looking forward to it!

  8. Lindsay says:

    VERY sad I will miss it 🙁 🙁 🙁

    • Meghan says:

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. I am still counting on that little one to pop out at least a week before Regionals. Mostly because I just want to hold him/her all weekend:)

  9. Ben says:

Lindsey and I are wondering if another couple wants to share one of those two bedroom suites. Save some mooolah!
