How did you hear about Crossfit?
I had done Crossfit about 4 years ago for 2 or 3 months, but had to drive forever to get to it and quit going.  I recently decided I needed to make a change in lifestyle, looked for Crossfit gyms in Des Moines, came across 515 and haven’t turned back since.

Favorite/least favorite movements/workouts?
My favorite workouts are the Hero WODs, simply because of what they represent. Those guys and gals gave everything for our country.  It makes me want to give everything I have in me to do the workout.  My favorite movement would probably be thrusters and least favorite is definitely burpees.

How has Crossfit changed your life?
I really don’t even know where to start.  When I started CF 3 months ago I weighed 250#, couldn’t do 10 sit-ups or pushups without going to my knees.  This week I will hit the 210# mark, I can do several sit-ups without any weight on my feet to hold them down and pushups without going to my knees.  Im not going to call it the best shape I have ever been in, but I am well on my way and I’m not stopping.  I’m totally addicted.  I also feel like I have gained family from my Crossfit family.  Everyone is so awesome about wanting me to do the best you can and pushing me through workouts or helping me with technique.  Nothing makes me feel better walking into the gym than having Bobby say I look leaner and leaner every day.  It all helps.

Job info:
I have been with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for 7 years as a dispatcher.  It’s an interesting job as nothing is ever the same there.  Maybe one day I will hit the streets as a cop now that I’m getting in shape.  I also have a part time job with Budweiser on weekends making sure the fine citizens of Altoona and Grimes have plenty of beer to drink.

Family Info:
Single, no kids and don’t mind a bit.  Parents live down near Chariton where I am originally from.  I have family in the area as well.

Something fun/interesting about me:
I’m deathly afraid of heights, but I am registering this year to do “Over the Edge” to benefit the Special Olympics.  If I raise $1,000 by September I get to rappel off the side of the Financial Building downtown.  I think that’s 367 feet or something like that.  I’m taking that fear by the horns, hopefully.  I will also throw out there that my dad is a grave-digger.  Most people find that interesting for some odd reason.

I’m also a HUGE Iowa Hawkeyes fan.  My buddy and I run a blog site and do podcasting in our spare time.  The podcasting is fun stuff.

Most/least favorite song to WOD to?
I wouldn’t say I have a favorite as long as it is intense, hard hitting and fast moving, it’s good.  I would probably rip the speakers off the wall if I heard a Justin Beiber or Britney Spears type song…or country.

Favorite Movie:
I’m kind of a movie buff and it’s impossible for me to choose just one, so I always throw out a top 5 in no order:

Shawshank Redemption
The Hangover
Pulp Fiction
National Lampoons Christams Vacation
Top Gun

Favorite saying:
Admit Nothing – Deny Everything – Demand Proof
