How did you hear about CrossFit?
Shirley and I have known Jim and Shelley Noyce for a number of years. In fact, I remember Jim emailing me years ago and telling me that CrossFit 515 had opened. Some years later we met for lunch in Florida and discussed CrossFit again. In the intervening years Shirley had had a heart attack, and I began getting various joints replaced. So we had an interest at this point that went beyond academic. We were looking for a change. Retirement gave us the time, and we needed to provide the will.

How has CrossFit changed your life?
For starters, we wanted to get in better shape (round is not the shape that we have in mind long term). We can’t control the fact that we are aging, but we can control HOW we age. Mobility and strength are the most important things for us. We want to travel and we want to experience as much as we can while we are able. We don’t want to be the people that have to skip activities because they are physically unable to participate. We saw our parents lose the ability to move easily. We want to maintain our ability to be independent for many years. Granted, we started late (59), but we did start. We can feel the changes in our stamina, energy, flexibility, and mental outlook.
