Athlete of the Month: Kati Nizzi

CrossFit Birthday – 9/29/13
How did you hear about CrossFit? While working at Active Endeavors, Jaime & Lance came in & I overheard them talking to another customer about CrossFit. I butted into the conversation to ask them questions about their business. Jaime gave me one of her cards & told me about the free trial period. After my triathlon that summer I gave it a shot. Having come from 2-5 hour workouts for the triathlon training I was shocked when the first workout was 12 minutes long. The next day I was equally as sore as I was hooked.
How has CrossFit changed my life? How hasn’t it? 🙂 I’ve learned so much from the coaches as well as fellow members. The sense of community is amazing and is truly special. The workouts are efficient and always different so I never get bored, which is very much appreciated. I was also able to workout 39 out of 40 weeks of my first pregnancy. That in itself was life changing. The coaches were so supportive and helped me through the entire thing, providing me with modified movements and alternative workouts when necessary. Every day I go to 515 I am inspired and leave feeling happy.
Favorite & least favorite movements – Faves: deadlift, rope climb, handstand anything
Least: double unders and overhead squat
Family info – Husband of 7 1/2 years (Matt) and son who was born 12/2 (Cillian)
I also have 2 dogs who are my first babies, Franki is a beagle/poodle mix and Gino is a soft coated Wheaton terrier

Favorite song to workout to – Any 90s dance music or rap. “My name is” by Eminem is always a good one to lift to.
Favorite TV show or movie – Super Troopers or Tommy Boy
What movement or skill were you most excited about when you were able to do it? Every time I get a double under I am amazed – haha!
